My Hideout

This tree is my hideout
Thin, spiny leaves arch overhead
Kissing the rugged dirt
Where I sit, hands clasping knees

Thin, spiny leaves arch overhead
A thick canopy with tiny sunlit pinholes
Where I sit, hands clasping knees
And leaning against scaly bark

A thick canopy with tiny sunlit pinholes
Kissing the rugged dirt
And leaning against scaly bark
This tree is my hideout.

This poem is part of my April Poetry Challenge. In honor of National Poetry Month this year, I'm writing lots of poetry and posting a new poem every day in April! Read more of my poetry here.
